Two advanced classes for users of QuickBooks are being offered through the Small Business Development Center on Mohave Community College’s Neal Campus - Kingman in two sessions, on July 29 and 31.
The two two-hour sessions are for new users of QuickBooks or current users who can use additional training in the more advanced features of QuickBooks. The classes will run 6 to 8 p.m. both evenings in Room 802 (SBDC office).
Session I will focus on setting up inventory in QuickBooks, tracking and paying sales tax and estimating and progressive invoicing. Session II will focus on doing payroll using QuickBooks, tracking time, customizing forms and writing letters.
Cost of the hands-on training sessions is $80 for both sessions; $50 for one. Fees include a training manual and refreshments, and there is a $5 per-session discount for those who attended the SBDC’s QuickBooks Introductory Training Class. Those students are asked to bring their manuals with them.

All SBDC programs are non-discriminatory and are open to the public. This program is being held in cooperation with the Arizona Small Business Development Center Network.

Students in the College for Kids summer program on Mohave Community College’s Neal Campus - Kingman watched Thursday as Ed Kunze, a member of the associate art faculty at MCC, introduces them to the world of ceramics.
More than 70 local students are enrolled in this summer’s program, and they are studying subjects such as art, dance, astronomy and more.

Changes in the economy have forced many Mohave County residents to look at career options. With fall classes beginning Aug. 25, Mohave Community College is set to prepare displaced workers for a wide range of careers in stable, high-demand fields where they can improve their earning power, quality of life and the economy in general.
There are numerous career programs at MCC, all of which offer certificates and/or associate degrees. The programs of study are Allied Health, Business, Culinary Arts, Computer Information Systems, Education, Industrial Technology, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Public Safety. “It is time to make beautiful memories with our grandchildren,” Jan Messersmith said of her and husband Dan Messersmith’s retirement from Mohave Community College after a combined 59 years of service.
After a wide variety of titles since he joined MCC in 1978 as financial aid/veterans affairs/placement officer, Dan will leave the college and the position of assistant to the chancellor for college advancement, a post he has held since 2005. Read the rest of this entry »

Veterans United, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping alive the memory of fallen members of the Armed Forces, received two used Dell computers from Mohave Community College’s Henry Campus - Bullhead City on Tuesday for use in the Arizona Military Heritage Center, which opened in 2007. Veterans United’s headquarters is in Bullhead City, and the group has aided in developing the Arizona Veterans Memorial Park, a 12-acre site on the Colorado River. Accepting the computers is Mark Crough, left, managing director of Veterans United, and presenting the computers is Dave Shahan, right, president of the MCC campus.
