MC4 to collect used computer equipment March 28
2nd March 2009
Old computers and computer scrap will be accepted for disposal on the Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Kingman campuses of Mohave Community College on March 28 as a fund-raiser for the MCC Computer Club (MC4).
If you are loaded down with computers, monitors, printers and PC accessories, MC4 and employees of SunGard Higher Education, MCC’s technology service provider, will take in scrap electronic equipment from 8 a.m. to noon on the Neal Campus-Kingman and Lake Havasu City campuses and from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Henry Campus-Bullhead City.
The collection area will be the parking lots near the computer centers (Building 500) on each campus. The scrap will be loaded onto trucks and be taken to Westech Recycler of Phoenix, which donates 2 cents per pound back to MC4, which uses the funds for club projects.
At the last semi-annual computer collection, held in October, two trucks were filled with used and obsolete computer equipment.
“This is our fifth semi-annual drive, and we are happy to offer this service to the community,” said Brian Siemens, the technical director for SunGard Higher Education and co-advisor to MC4.
All donations are tax deductible, and donors may obtain receipts, Siemens said. Donors are also asked to not bring small household appliances or televisions as they cannot be accepted.
For more information on the recycling event or about MC4, contact Siemans at (928) 757-0869 or e-mail him at bsiemens@mohave.edu or contract MC4 co-advisor Andra Goldberg at (928) 3015 or e-mail her at agoldberg@mohave.edu .
