LHC sets dates for GED orientation, classes

26th February 2008

GED orientation classes will held the first two weeks of March on Mohave Community College’s Lake Havasu City Campus for those interested in earning their General Education Development certificate, comparable to a high school diploma.

There is no charge for the orientations, to be held in Room 812 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 3-5) from 5 to 9:50 p.m. A second session runs Monday through Wednesday March 10-12 from 9 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. in Room 203B. The orientations are recommended for all students who will be taking their GED tests. The sessions provide students with information on how college classes work and give them information on the official GED test.
Students may choose either session, but they are required to attend all three days of orientation to register for the free GED classes, which begin March 19. They must provide an Arizona-issued identification (other forms will be considered). If they are 16 or 17, they must bring a statement from the last school attended to certify their official withdrawal and they must complete an Under 18 Admission Form.

GED classes are offered by MCC’s College Preparatory Studies Division at each campus. The students will be given the Test of Adult Basic Education, which evaluates what areas of the GED test they need to study.

For more information or to register for the orientation sessions, stop by the College Preparatory Studies office on the Lake Havasu City campus or call (928)-505-3332.
