MC4 hosts LAN gaming event, cancer fund-raiser

23rd April 2009

JOEY HEREDEROThe Mohave Community College Computer Club (MC4) will hold a local-area network (LAN) computer gaming event open free to the public on May 2 to benefit club friend and colleague Joey Heredero, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

The event will run from 5 to 10 p.m. in the campus computer learning centers (Building 500) on the Neal Campus-Kingman, Henry Campus-Bullhead City and the Lake Havasu City campus.

Heredero had been working as part of the technical support staff on MCC’s Lake Havasu City campus.

Free pizza and soft drinks will be donated by Sungard Higher Education, which provides MCC’s technical support. There is a suggested donation of $8, with all proceeds going to Heredero to help with medical expenses.

Participants will utilize the computer games Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Halo, Unreal Tournament and Battlefield 2, and participants will compete against players on the other campuses. Computers in the computer learning centers are available for use, but participants may also bring their own Xbox systems. Xbox players need to bring their own systems and TVs.

If a participant is under 18 years, he or she will need a completed parent permission slip, available at the MC4 website: http://www.mohave.edu/pages/1128.asp. New members are encouraged to attend.
