MCC-LHC associate faculty member named to Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

angelina-ortiz-asl92007.jpgAngelina Ortiz, a member of the associate faculty on the Lake Havasu City campus of Mohave Community College, was named recently by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as a member of the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Ortiz was nominated to the Commission by Colorado River Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CRADHH) and Dr. Nick Sanchez, president of the Lake Havasu campus of MCC. Ortiz has been a member of the associate faculty at MCC since 1998, teaching American Sign Language. She has also taught sign language at MCC’s College for Kids and at Arizona Western College. She has also attended several seminars and conferences for instructors of American Sign Language,  including most recently at the meeting of American Sign Language Instructors this year in Phoenix.  She is also a member of the Americans with Disabilities Act of Lake Havasu City as well as President of CRADHH.
