Ten universities to visit MCC Feb. 22-25
8th February 2010
Obtaining a bachelor’s degree has never been more convenient for young people and for working adults, thanks to the prevalence of university campuses and extensive online learning.
Of the thousands of universities available to Mohave Community College students, 16 have signed transfer partnership (articulation) agreements with MCC that assure all coursework completed for an MCC associate’s degree will be accepted at those universities.
During the week of Feb. 22, 10 of MCC’s articulation partners and three additional schools will be on the MCC campuses so students can have personal meetings with advisors to discuss their plans for higher education and the benefits of attending the various universities. The event is open to MCC students, alumni and the public.
“Our goal for Transfer Awareness Week is to let student know there are options for transfer to a four-year college or university and that a bachelor’s degree or higher is possible and attainable,” said Jann Woods, dean of student services at MCC.
“Students who are graduating this year will be able to learn firsthand about the transfer application process, majors, student support services and financial aid at the participating schools,” Woods said. She also pointed out that some of the visiting schools will be offering on-the-spot scholarships.
“Students who are still working on a degree, or who are just beginning college, can learn about degree requirements at their target university and then work with their MCC advisors to map out a plan to complete a degree at MCC that will transfer with the highest number of credit hours,” she added.
